Cat & Dog Ultrasound

Ultrasound is a remarkable imaging tool that gives our team in Cypress an advantage in diagnosing and treating dogs and cats. Because X-ray is mainly useful for issues associated with the bones and joints, relying only on X-ray would limit our capabilities and force us to refer patients elsewhere for their ultrasound procedures. With our in-house ultrasound equipment, we can better understand your pet’s health and organ function.

Why An Ultrasound?

We typically recommend ultrasounds when other diagnostic procedures prove inconclusive, and we need to obtain a visual of your pet’s internal organs. Where blood tests and X-rays fail, ultrasound can provide new and valuable insight. It can be used to view/detect:

  • Pregnancies
  • Foreign bodies
  • Cysts and tumors
  • Blood vessels
  • Abnormalities in organ size, shape, blood supply, and texture

How It Works

Ultrasound for dogs and cats works just like human ultrasound. The equipment produces high-frequency sound waves, which safely penetrate the skin and bounce off the soft tissue organs, creating echoes. These echoes are converted into electrical impulses, which are in turn converted into a clear, real-time moving image. This greatly enhances our ability to examine your pet internally without being invasive.
