Our Veterinarians

Dr. Darleen Nath

Dr. Nath is originally from Detroit, MI, and knew from a very early age that she was destined to become a veterinarian. She had multiple pets while growing up, including dogs, cats, guinea pigs, turtles, fish, and birds. Dr. Nath received a BS in Biology with a minor in Business Administration from Wayne State University in Detroit, MI. She then attended Tuskegee University College of Veterinary Medicine and received her DVM in 2009. Following graduation, Dr. Nath worked for over a year at the Michigan Humane Society in Detroit, MI, and gained plenty of experience in surgery and emergency care. In 2010 she relocated to Washington, DC with her husband and worked at a small animal clinic until they decided they needed more sun and heat in their lives and chose to move to Houston in 2017. She has worked at multiple clinics in the Houston area and loves the Cypress neighborhood! Her most recent role was as a Medical Director of a small animal clinic in Cypress.

Dr. Nath believes that optimal clinical results are achieved through the integration of multiple medical traditions. Because of this belief, she attended The Chi Institute in Gainesville, FL, to become a Certified Veterinary Acupuncturist in 2014. She has also completed the coursework for her certification in Tui Na massage therapy.

Dr. Nath and her colleague, Dr. Schnacke, decided to open Lakeside Veterinary Care after realizing that they both want the same things for their clients: individualized patient care, client education for owners, using low-stress handling techniques, and helping with continued education for our staff so they can continue to provide the best care to our patients and owners.

Her professional interests include Dentistry, Pain Management, and Internal Medicine. She is kept busy with her three children, her senior Siberian Husky mix, Lily, and crazy Golden Retriever mix, Chai. She enjoys traveling, trying new cuisines, and watching reruns of The Office.

Fun Facts: She is a big Harry Potter fan (she’s a Ravenclaw!), her favorite chocolate is Reese’s peanut butter cups, her favorite actor is Will Smith, and her ultimate dream vacation is to go on a safari in Africa.

Dr. Amara Schnacke

Dr. Amara Schnacke was born and raised in Houston, Texas. She received her undergraduate degree from New York University. During her time in NYC, she volunteered for numerous animal rescue organizations. While in school and away from her pets, she realized that her passion for animals had turned into her professional calling. She went on to graduate magna cum laude from Tuskegee College of Veterinary Medicine. She was an associate at a busy Cypress animal hospital for a few years after graduation. Recently, she has been a relief veterinarian, working at numerous Houston and Cypress clinics. She has loved learning how different clinics function and bond with their clients and patients.

Dr. Schnacke and Dr. Nath met in 2017 and quickly realized their passion for individualized patient care. They believe every patient is unique and deserves specialized attention to their medical and emotional needs. With this belief system as their cornerstone, they decided to start Lakeside Veterinary Care. Their goal is to provide a calming atmosphere for both patient and client and provide quality client education.

Dr. Schnacke has a special interest in ultrasonography. She has participated in numerous hours of continuing education and plans to continue learning about it as a remarkable diagnostic tool. Her other professional interests include Dermatology, Radiology, and Internal Medicine.

Dr. Schnacke and her husband, Jonathan have 4 fur-babies at home: a feisty Schnauzer, a loveable Boxer mix, a goofy 3-legged German Shorthair Pointer mix and a sassy 3 legged cat; and yes, the dogs all sleep in bed.

Fun Facts: She makes an amazingly accurate pig noise (don’t be afraid to ask to hear it), she loves cooking and is always looking for new and interesting recipes, she is a sucker for black and white movies, and if you are looking for her between February and June she will probably be somewhere eating a ridiculous amount of boiled crawfish.

Kaitlin

Hey there, all you pet lovers! My name is Kaitlin, and I have a passion for the health and well-being of animals. I have been a veterinary technician for 2 years and have grown up around animals my entire life. I enjoy working with all species of animals. However, my favorites would have to be dogs and cats. You can find me hiking with my dogs in my free time, in the gym, fishing, and spending time with my family. I have three dogs of my own; their names are Lola, an 11-year-old Chihuahua, Knox, a 6-year-old Pitbull, and Falon, a 5-year-old Lab-mix. I hope to rescue more pets once I have graduated college.

I am currently attending Lone Star College, where I will soon obtain my Associate of Science Degree to transfer to Texas A&M to study Bio-Medical Science. Female doctors such as Dr. Nath and Dr. Schnacke have inspired me to become a doctor of my own and pursue a career in forensic pathology. One saying I tell myself for daily motivation is, “The world needs more female doctors.” I am ecstatic to meet new fur babies daily while working alongside a strong and intelligent team.

Marina

Hi there! My name is Marina, and I was born here in Houston, Texas. However, I spent the majority of my early life growing up in Los Angeles, California, before moving back to Houston. I have been passionate about the veterinary field ever since I was a little girl. I have always had a fascination for science and medicine, and my love for animals was the “cherry on top” in the decision to pursue my dream profession. My career at Lakeside began in October of 2020 as an intern, and today you can see me working at reception. I’m beyond grateful to Dr. Nath and Dr. Schnacke for allowing me the opportunity to help animals each and every day. I have three feline fur babies of my own: Emerald, Snowflake, and Baloo (pictured), as well as a saltwater aquarium. My fur/finned family is my absolute world! I am currently attending Houston Baptist University in pursuit of a bachelor’s degree in Biology. Once complete, I plan on attending Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine to obtain my DVM and open up a clinic of my very own in the future.

Becky

Hey y’all I’m Becky, a pure bred Houstonian and proud! I have always loved animals, and often took in strays when I was young (sorry Mom!). I’ve been in the veterinary field for over 6 years, and have worked pretty much every position possible. I started in reception and worked my way up as I fell in love with the field. My true love has always been in the technician profession. From the smallest mouse to the biggest horse, I love all animals! My favorite animals are rats and hyenas, though I am especially fond of working with cats. I live with my husband and daughter, and our two fur babies Brigby and Jinx.

Brooke

Hello to all my fellow animal people! My name is Brooke, and I have been a veterinary technician since 2016. I attended Vet Tech Institute of Houston, where I then went on to get my license to become a Licensed Veterinary Technician. Growing up, I was around animals of all types, from horses and livestock to reptiles and birds, but I have found my passion for working with dogs and cats. There is a unique joy that comes from working together with pet owners to improve the lives of those who can’t speak for themselves. Outside of work, you can find me spending time with my husband, our two beautiful kiddos, and our pup Penny. I can not wait to meet you and your pets!
